Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible for this site

CoopPanel is a small independent editorial desk operating in Australia and publishing at cooppanel.com. In this notice, “we” and “the desk” mean CoopPanel as the entity that decides how and why personal information on this site is handled.

Questions about privacy, requests for access or correction, and complaints all go to one address: desk@cooppanel.com. We answer in English, usually within two business days.

2. What we collect

We keep collection deliberately small. Depending on how you use the site, the following may be handled:

• Server log data. Your IP address, browser user-agent string, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time of the request. This is generated automatically by the hosting infrastructure.
• Cookies and similar local storage. Small files and browser storage entries used to keep the site working, to remember your choice in the cookie notice and, if you consent, for audience measurement and advertising. The full list is in the cookie notice.
• Subscription form data. The e-mail address you type, the name you type if you choose to give one, and the fact that you ticked the consent box, together with the date of that action.
• Push notification identifiers. If you allow browser notifications, our push provider assigns your browser a subscription identifier and stores a token on your device so that messages can be delivered.
• Advertising identifiers. Advertising partners may set their own identifiers in your browser where you have consented to advertising cookies.

We do not ask for your postal address, your date of birth or your telephone number, and the subscription form contains no field for them.

3. Why we handle it, and on what basis

• To deliver the page you asked for and to keep the site secure and available — handled as a necessary part of operating the service.
• To send index updates by e-mail and browser notification — handled only with your express consent, given by ticking the box on the form and by accepting the browser prompt.
• To understand which entries are read in aggregate — handled with your consent to analytics cookies.
• To display advertising placements on the pages of this site — handled with your consent to advertising cookies.
• To answer your e-mail — handled so that we can respond to the message you sent us.

Under the Australian Privacy Principles we collect only what is reasonably necessary for these functions, and we do not use personal information for any unrelated purpose without telling you first.

4. How long we keep it

• Server logs: up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated beyond identification.
• Subscription records (e-mail, optional name, consent record): until you unsubscribe, and for up to 24 months afterwards as proof that consent was given and later revoked.
• Push subscription identifiers: until you revoke notification permission or the provider marks the subscription as inactive.
• E-mail correspondence: up to 24 months after the matter is closed.
• Cookies: for the periods set out in the cookie notice.

5. Who else is involved

We never trade, rent or hand over personal information for someone else's marketing, and we do not swap mailing lists. Information is disclosed only to the service providers that make the site work, and only for that purpose:

• Hosting and content delivery provider — stores the files and serves the pages; processes server log data on our behalf.
• OneSignal — acts as our processor for browser push notifications and for e-mail delivery. It receives your e-mail address, the optional name, the tags recorded with your subscription and the push identifier issued by your browser.
• Advertising partners — where you consent to advertising cookies, these partners handle the identifiers they set in your browser under their own privacy notices.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where personal information is disclosed overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Cookies and browser storage

The cookie notice explains every category we use, why it is used and how long each entry lasts, and it explains how the banner on the site records your choice. Read it here: cookie notice. You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data in your browser, which brings the banner back.

7. Your rights under the Privacy Act 1988

The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles give you the right to:

• ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading;
• revoke consent for e-mail updates or push notifications at any time, without giving a reason;
• ask us to delete subscription information we no longer need;
• make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information.

Send any of these requests to desk@cooppanel.com. We will confirm receipt and respond within 30 days. If we refuse access or correction we will explain why in writing.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the national privacy regulator, at oaic.gov.au or by telephone on 1300 363 992.

8. Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to subscription information is limited to the two people who run the desk and to the providers named above. We review that access periodically and remove what is no longer needed. No online service can promise absolute protection against unauthorised access, but we take reasonable steps to protect the small amount of information we hold, and if a data breach likely to cause serious harm occurs we will notify affected people and the OAIC as required by the notifiable data breaches scheme.

9. Children

This site is written for adults choosing games for themselves or for their household. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to us and the record will be removed.

10. Changes to this notice

If this notice changes, the updated version is published on this page with a new “last updated” date. Material changes affecting subscribers are announced in the update message itself. This version takes effect on 1 August 2026.
